UPDATE: While the image (above) initially believed to show the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 in the flesh has proven to be an old picture of the Mi 8, we've added a new one below from Romanian e-tailer PC Garage that features the label on the handset's retail box. This further confirms a number of key specs, including that Snapdragon 845 processor, a liquid cooling system for "industry-leading thermal performance", an AI dual camera system, and 4,000 mAh battery.
After said Snapdragon 845 SoC was confirmed not long ago in official Bluetooth SIG certification paperwork, a Romanian retailer is now randomly selling the Xiaomi Pocophone F1. Of course, this e-store is in no way affiliated with Xiaomi, and it’s unclear if PC Garage can actually fulfill “Poco F1” orders already. But one way or another, the Eastern European consumer electronics merchant prematurely obtained inventory of the unreleased phone, as supported by what looks like a very convincing device photograph.
The live image, along with a few press-friendly renders, reveal a fairly clean, trendy look, including a wide, iPhone X-inspired notch, relatively large “chin”, as well as a seemingly metallic backplate featuring two vertically-arranged cameras and a fingerprint reader below them.
The “Pocophone” moniker is engraved on the phone’s rear, so it’s definitely more than just a codename, and if we choose to trust the info listed in Romania, this speedy 6-incher will also pack a hefty 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage space, with 12 and 5MP “main” shooters in tow, as well as an impressive single 20MP selfie cam.
Unsurprisingly running Android 8.1 Oreo out the box on the software side of things, the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 is also expected to accommodate a massive 4,000 mAh battery inside a not-too-chunky body. The “notchy” display should sport a respectable 2246 x 1080 resolution, and yet the price is listed at a measly $500 or so.
Unfortunately, we really can’t be sure of that number right now, and an official US release seems out of the question anyway. But European bargain hunters might be in for a treat soon.
