The Galaxy S 4 may help Samsung double its lead over the second-biggest phone maker in 2013

Sure, everyone knows that the Galaxy S 4 will sell extremely well, but according to research firm IHS iSupply, the GS 4 will actually be the driving force behind a substantial boost for Samsung, which will eventually leave it a doubled lead over the second-biggest phone maker this year.

The logic is quite wobbly, but let's just say that such an achievement doesn't seem too unlikely, given the extraordinary amounts of cash the South Koreans are pouring over their marketing efforts. IHS iSupply isn't specific about the percentage of Samsung's market share, but says that while its lead when it comes to volume of sold units over Nokia was 5% in 2012, that lead will grow to about 11% in 2013. The manufacturer taking the second place will likely still be Nokia.

Here's what IHS iSupply analyst Ian Fogg had to say: "Combined with a massive worldwide rollout through almost every operator, the lifestyle focus of the S4 will help drive Samsung’s market share sharply in 2013."
