OnePlus is always proud of its Dash Charge charging solution and it will never miss a chance to tell you how awesome it is. And rightfully so — anyone that has ever charged its compliant OnePlus device with the dedicated Dash Charger knows that you are extremely unlikely to live that wall hugger life. The company promises "a full day of power in half an hour", and for the most part, this promise does not stray away from reality.Of course, one of the key bells and whistles of the all-new OnePlus 5 is Dash Charge, and albeit it's not a new feature per say, it's one of the things that are most likely to benefit users the most. 

Eager to showcase the prowess of its fast-charging solution, OnePlus has come up with a telltale graphic that wants to show us how much faster the 3,300mAh OnePlus 5 charges in comparison with two of its more spectacular Android rivals - the 3,000mAh Galaxy S8 and the 3,450mAh Google Pixel XL. As a reminder, the former supports Fast and Fast Wireless charging provided that you use the original Samsung accessory, whereas the latter only relies upon a fast 18W USB Type-C charger to get itself high on electricity and not any of Qualcomm's fast-charging solutions.

So, here's how these three phones compare, according to OnePlus:

The graphic above shows us the rate of charge while the screen is on. In one hour, the OnePlus 5 will reportedly near 95% and will enter the trickle stage of the charging process, whereas the Galaxy S8 and the Pixel XL will be charged around 55% and 30%, respectively.

The graphic above shows the rate of charging when a video is being played on the device. In an hour's time, the OnePlus 5 will allegedly surpass 75%, whereas the Galaxy S8 and the Pixel XL are both well below 30%. Ouch.

The final graphic shows us the rate of charging when you're playing a game. Again, after one hour, the OnePlus 5 will allegedly near 80% of battery whereas its competitors are purportedly well below the 50% mark.

The magic of Dash Charge lies in the charger. Instead of increasing the voltage, which is how most fast-charging solutions work, the Dash Charger increases the amperage of the electricity to do its mojo. This way, more electrical current is carried to the phone, which is not speeding up the charging process. Most importantly, all of this is done within the charger itself and not the phone, which keeps down the temperatures in the device and theoretically does not add up to the deterioration of the battery (heat is very bad for your phone's battery).
