The Kyocera E4710 has received Bluetooth SIG certification, and has been passed through the FCC. The device is described in the Bluetooth SIG as being a rugged, waterproof clamshell phone sporting a 2.6-inch display, and carrying a 240 x 320 resolution. That works out to a pixel density of 153ppi. A 5MP snapper will adorn the back of the phone. It appears that the Kyocera E4710 will come with 4GB or 8GB of internal storage. Those seeking additional storage can use the 32GB capacity microSD slot found on the unit. A 1530mAh battery keeps the lights on, and the handset supports 4G, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. Android 5.1 is pre-installed. Unfortunately, there is no word on which chipset will be employed by the phone. We'd also like to see if there is an IP rating for the model, as it is said to be waterproof.Obviously, this is not a high-end device, but the rugged aspects of it might make it interesting for parents who are looking for a phone to give their young children. With the FCC certification behind it, we could see Kyocera making this official in the near future.
Thanks for the tip!
